Best Animated Movies – Not Drawn By Disney
While Mickey Mouse and his industrial media empire may hold the largest collection of animated films, some of the best animated pictures were from outside the mind’s at Disney. From the 70′s till present day, independent companies and creative minds like director Don Bluth have collaborated in unique works providing fans of the animated film genre treasured classics that continue to build a following to this day.
From quests to reboot human civilization in Titan A.E. to a world of magic and sorcery depicted by the stories and hand drawings of Studio Ghibli (an animation studio fronted by legendary director Hayao Miyazaki), these animated films are inspirational and unique from anything you’ll find in Disney’s vault. And while 3D animated pictures (The Lorax, Despicable Me 2, Brave) continue to overgrow the use of 2D hand-drawn production, the value of these animated films must not be forgotten.
